Hello!
Welcome to “The Edit”!
I’m Sarah Bradshaw — a wedding photographer whose greatest strength is to make others feel seen, known, & loved; a creative director for wedding & lifestyle brands; and a legacy-focused entrepreneur who loves to help others thrive in life & work.
I’m also wife to an entrepreneur, mom to three amazing kids, and an old soul/avid collector who loves anything & everything with age & story (old houses, museums, vintage furniture, thrifted one-of-a-kind art, and alllll the books). Hospitality is one of our family’s core values, and I’m happiest when my kitchen is full of dear friends connecting over food and intentional conversation, leading with authenticity and sincere care for others. People are more important than projects, always.
Whether you found my substack through Instagram, my newsletter, a friend or industry connection, or because we know each other in real life, welcome. There’s always a place for you at my table.
What is “The Edit”?
It’s a newsletter-meets-journal-meets-“a non-podcast podcast in written form,” delivered straight to your inbox.
You can expect to read thoughtful interviews with fellow creatives, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders on topics such as sustainable growth, navigating burnout, and thriving at work AND within family. I’ll share parts of my own creative process, and explore ideas around curiosity, artistic direction, and building a “quiet brand” in a loud world. I’ll share actionable nuggets from books I’m reading, and wisdom from my own nearly-20 years of self-employment.
At the heart of it all: people-first entrepreneurship, creative sustainability, values-driven business, and healthy rhythms of life and leadership.
I firmly believe that it’s better make money with people than on people. I believe that building a business that is highly profitable and that puts people first isn’t just a pipe dream—it’s the way to have a satisfying business without burnout and to ensure both sustainability (the ability to maintain or renew at a certain level) and synchronicity (two things flourishing in tandem, at the same time) between work and personal growth.
I’m a verbal processor, I’ve regularly journaled for over 25 years, and my hungry mind chews on ideas best when I can digest them for others, so substack feels like the most perfect outlet for me.
I hope you enjoy reading what I have to say as much as I enjoy writing it!
What can you expect?
Articles published 2-3 times per week on a range of topics. Lessons from my own experience, tools I find useful, conversations I’m having in my personal circles of work friends, observations about the wedding & creative industries at large, and soooooo many book recommendations.
Every once in awhile I might plug a product or service I’m using/loving in my personal life, a hotel or restaurant review, or my newest interior design crush because why not. People are not a collection of separate parts, but one whole being with multiple interests. I plan to share all of mine with you.
